During the 1500’s in Spain there were laws meant to limitthe luxury a person could show in their dress. However,1873 Mahogany UGG Bailey Button Triplet, this didn’t make theopulence of the time go down at all unless it was in the fact that men andwomen wore primarily black. The dark cloth reflected the gravity of Spanish national identity.On the black cloth would be rich embroidery and often would include lavishjewelry. This is the time too when the bodice became important on a women’sdress. Also, women would wear a farthingale, or a stiff underskirt, that wouldaccentuate her hips while making her torso thin.Priorto this, such as during the 1300’s, the style of dress was much more simplebordering on primitive. All articles had purpose. Men wore a linen shirt, thena tunic, and then a surcoat. One of these surcoats was the cyclas, whichbegan as a rectangular piece of cloth with a hole in it for the head. Over timethe sides were sewn together to make a long, sleeveless tunic. When sleeves andsometimes hood were added, the cyclas became a ganache  or a gardcorps (a long, generous-sleevedtraveling robe, somewhat resembling a modern academic robe). A mantle was wornas a formal wrap.Women wore a floor length, loosely-fitted gown, with long,tight sleeves and a narrow belt. Over this, went a cyclas, just like the men. Thericher the women, the more embroidery and the mantle, worn over the cyclas, mightbe lined with fur if she could afford it.
